    Udhyami Bhetghat, a bimonthly program organized by Biruwa ventures in collaboration with Kings College and CINED was held successfully on 23rd Sept 2015, at Chahhari production, Baluwatar. It is a platform for entrepreneurs at various stages of their venture to expand their professional network and get insight on the aforementioned topic through experience sharing and interactive QA session. The 8th session focused on the women entrepreneurship sector.  The program featured accomplished guests and they were:

Rita Bhandari (President, Federation of Women Entrepreneurs in Nepal) is a successful women entrepreneur of Nepal. She runs a handmade paper company and a marketing cooperative, and has held numerous posts with the government of Nepal on entrepreneurship promotion issues.

 

 


 

Shristi-Joshi-Malla-Biruwa

Shristi Joshi Malla (President, SABHA Nepal) is president of SAARC Business Association of Home Based Workers. She is a designer and proprietor of Mona’s Creation.

 

 

 


Sita-Bantha-Magar-Biruwa

Sita Bantha Magar is a former floriculture entrepreneur and currently working as Agro-Enterprise Development Specialist at Micro Enterprise Development Program (MEDEP)

 

 


During the QA session, Rita Bhandari, President of FWEAN, mentioned that she is hopeful about the future of female entrepreneurs as they have been able to generate creative ideas which have expanded its horizon to the wider sectors rather than only the traditional skills of knitting and sewing.  She also talked about how fortunate the new generations are as they have abundant access to resources and facilities. Shristi Joshi Malla also shared similar optimism, expressed her happiness and satisfaction that she has procured from being able to pursue her dreams along with employment to the marginalized group of women. Sita Bantha Magar talked about the achievement of MEDEP that has helped to alleviate the livelihood of women living under the poverty line through various skill based trainings.

Overall it was inspiring to meet the doers, the risk takers who not just dreamt of doing something but executed it to reality, a powerful example of perseverance. Also, the hard work of Biruwa family was evident during the whole program as the session was conducted smoothly and the inquisitive participants made the event worthwhile and commendable.
